Marigold prices crash in Pune market

Flower traders and farmers are facing a severe setback this festive season as marigold prices have plummeted at Pune’s Gultekdi Market Yard despite Dussehra demand.

Traditionally one of the busiest times of the year, the market has seen arrivals shrink by half due to heavy rains and floods in Marathwada and other regions.

Farmers said that despite wading through water to salvage their crops, they are being forced to sell marigolds for as little as Rs50-60 per kg, while only top-quality flowers are fetching Rs100. Many traders reported that buyers remain hesitant, leaving stalls emptier than usual during what is typically peak season.
