Five ex-cops get life for custodial death

A sessions court in Chennai on Tuesday convicted five former policemen of murdering Palani, alias Kutti Palani, after torturing him in police custody in 2009, and sentenced the surviving three to life imprisonment.
The court found that sub-inspector P Arumugam and head constables M Manoharan and B N Harihara Subramanian caused the brutal assault that led to Palanis death; two other accused — Vincent and Ezhumalai —
