Big twist in missing Sabarimala’s gold pedestal

Officials overseeing the Sabarimala temple's oversight and the Kerala High Court’s vigilance wing have confirmed that the missing gold pedestal tied to the Dwarapalaka sculptures has been located at a relative’s residence of the sponsor, triggering deeper scrutiny over accountability and procedural gaps.

The development emerged as the sponsor, Unnikrishnan Potty, had earlier raised alarm that a second pedestal he donated—crafted with sovereigns of gold—was unaccounted for during the temple’s maintenance operations. Potty asserted that this replacement pedestal, given during COVID restrictions, was never formally installed, and its present whereabouts were unknown.

Investigators now state they traced it to the home of his relative.
