US Hindu group asks Vance to 'engage with Hinduism'

As US Vice President J.D. Vance faces mounting criticism for his comments on his interfaith marriage with Second Lady Usha Vance, the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) has urged him to acknowledge Hinduism’s influence and engage with it respectfully.

The controversy erupted after Vance, speaking at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi, said he hoped his wife—who grew up in a Hindu household—would “one day be moved by the same thing that I was moved in by church.” The comment drew criticism for suggesting a conversion wish.
