Traffic Police booked 80k cases related to mobile use while driving

Despite repeated advisories and awareness campaigns, traffic officials report a persistent trend of drivers and riders using mobile phones while navigating city roads

In a bid to curb the rising menace of mobile phone use behind the wheel, the Hyderabad Traffic Police has launched a special enforcement drive targeting motorists who use phones while driving or riding.

Between January 1 and October 12, 2025, the Traffic Police booked 80,555 cases related to mobile phone use while driving. As part of a renewed crackdown, special drives conducted on October 13 and 14 alone resulted in 2,345 additional cases being registered.
