The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the advanced 'RISAT-1B' (Radar Imaging Satellite-1B), a crucial asset for India's national security, natural resource management, and disaster response.

- DJ Mohana Rao Teaching Faculty

Scheduled for launch on May 18, 2025, from Sriharikota aboard the PSLV-C61, RISAT-1B will enhance India's strategic surveillance capabilities along sensitive borders with Pakistan and China, and safeguard its vast coastline.

This satellite builds on the success of the RISAT series, offering enhanced functionalities.

RISAT-1B's core technology, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), enables continuous imaging regardless of weather conditions or daylight.

Unlike optical satellites, which are hindered by cloud cover, SAR provides clear imagery, crucial for accurate surveillance.
