Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested the Maharashtra state secretary of the Youth Congress and one associate for allegedly demanding Rs50,000 from a shopkeeper.

The duo threatened to file a complaint with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) regarding an unauthorised shed outside his shop. The incident occurred in Pimpri Camp on Sep 17. Late on Tuesday night, police arrested the accused, identified as Pankaj Bagade (40), a resident of Akurdi and state secretary of the Youth Congress, and Ganesh Darade (50), from Pimpri.
