MLA Prathibha assails glamour-centric inaugurations

U. Prathibha, MLA from Kayamkulam, ignited controversy with a forceful address at the closing ceremony of the Eruva Nalanda Kala Samskrishna Vedi library’s annual function, accusing public institutions of favouring “sexy actors” at inaugurations to entice crowds.

She insisted this growing trend undermines dignity and questioned the deeper impulses driving such choices.Addressing a gathering in Kayamkulam, Prathibha asserted that event organisers are increasingly booking actors who dress provocatively, saying “if such actors come, people will flock to see them.”

She demanded that organisers enforce decency in attire and argued that society is developing a “madness” for cinema personalities. She added that the practice reflects a distorted value system, asking whether the public has become so mesmerised by celebrity glamour.
