MAKING WAVES | PM Modi, his Singapore counterpart inaugurate Phase 2 of PSA BMCT at JN Port; state now top in India in terms of vessel container capacity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Singapore counterpart Lawrence Wong, on Thursday from Delhi, virtually inaugurated phase 2 of the PSA Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) at the Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) Port. The development is a major boost to India's maritime trade and infrastructure.

Hailing the PSA Mumbai Terminal as a matter of pride for Maharashtra, CM Devendra Fadnavis, who was present at the terminal site, said the state is now on top in India in terms of container handling. Underlining that the Vadhavan Port will be developed soon in Palghar, he remarked, "For the next 100 years, Maharashtra will remain a maritime superpower."

Union minister for ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, minister of state for the same portfolio Shantanu Thakur were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
