Brown University responds to campus shooting

Brown University President Christina H. Paxson issued an emotional statement late Saturday night after a mass shooting on the university's Providence campus left two people dead and at least nine others seriously injured, triggering fear, lockdowns and a large-scale police search during final examinations.
“This is a deeply tragic day for Brown, our families and our local community,’ Paxson said, reacting to the violence that unfolded inside the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building. “There are truly no words that can express the deep sorrow we are feeling for the victims of the shooting that took place today.”
We are very sorry to share that we have confirmed reports of two deceased victims from the active shooting situation at the Barus & Holley engineering building. There are eight additional victims in critical, but stable condition at the hospital. There remains a shelter in place...
