The Al II (Alpha 1 Mark II), announced in November 2024, is the new flagship from the Sony stable, designed for resolution as well as speed.
It is the second generation of their earlier top-end model, the Al. The new model, like Sony’s own A9 III, is targeted at working professionals -- nature / portrait / sports / documentary creators, advertising and commercial photographers. Let's put the Al II through our tests...
Design & Build Quality
The Sony Al Mark II is an Interchangeable lens mirrorless digital camera. The body is well-built and uses magnesium alloy for strength and light weight. It offers a deep hand grip that adds to the comfort when using the camera. The body is weather sealed to survive humidity, water splashes and dust and weighs approx. 658g. It is made in Thailand.
Key Features
Like most modern cameras, the Sony Al II also has too many features and too many improvements to be included in a short review. Instead of listing all the features (that you can easily get from the Net), let's start with prioritising the key similarities and key differences between the new flagship A1 II and the earlier Al (with firmware version 2.0).
