The Madurai bench of the High Court authorised a feast by a Hindu temple on a government-owned open ground in Dindigul district, overturning objections from a local Christian community that claimed exclusive longstanding use of the space.
Justice G R Swaminathan upheld the petitioner’s right to conduct annadhanam in N Panchampatti village ahead of the temple's consecration, declaring that public land belonging to the State must be accessible to all religious and communal groups without exclusion.
