WHY DO WE POSTPONE OUR HAPPINESS?

All of us would like to be happy every moment of our lives.

Yet we have conditioned our minds in such a way that we do not feel happy until our desires are fulfilled. So, we keep postponing our happiness to the future.

A student thinks that she would be happy once she has secured the top grade.

With this goal in mind, she studies hard, which is a good thing, but the focus on the goal and the belief that she will be happy only after achieving it, robs her of the joy of learning. Instead of enjoying the process of acquiring knowledge, she is stressed about reaching her goal and also fears what would happen if she fails in her task.

Where there is stress or fear, there is no room for happiness.

It is not just students who suffer this misery. In nearly every sphere of life, people make a similar mistake.
