Hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin's arrival in New Delhi, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused the Modi government of abandoning the longstanding convention of allowing visiting foreign dignitaries to meet the LoP, calling it a sign of "insecurity".

- ANAND SINGH

Speaking in Parliament, Gandhi said, "Traditionally, whoever visits India meets the Leader of Opposition. This happened under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and under Manmohan Singh. Now this is not the case." He claimed that during his foreign visits, officials abroad often indicate they are advised not to meet him.
