"Vested interest group" endeavouring to exert pressure on judiciary

Reacting to the concerns raised by over 600 lawyers against a “vested interest group,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a dig at Congress and said that “to browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture”.

“To browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture. 5 decades ago itself they had called for a “committed judiciary” - they shamelessly want commitment from others for their selfish interests but desist from any commitment towards the nation. No wonder 140 crore Indians are rejecting them,” PM Modi posted on X.

“Their tactics of pressure are most conspicuous in political cases, particularly those entailing allegations of corruption against political figures...

A consortium of over 600 legal minds have penned a letter to the Chief Justice of India, asserting that a “vested interest group” is endeavouring to exert pressure on the judiciary and tarnish the courts “based on frivolous logic and stale political agendas.”

“Their tactics of pressure are most conspicuous in political cases, particularly those entailing allegations of corruption against political figures. These maneuvers pose a threat to our courts and undermine our democratic foundation,” their letter, dated March 26 and addressed to CJI D Y Chandrachud, asserted.
