With preventable harm still a major concern—especially in pediatric and neonatal care where up to 97% of adverse events can be avoided—digital tools are emerging as powerful allies in ensuring patient safety.

Over the past decade, India has strengthened its focus on patient safety through initiatives like the National Patient Safety Implementation Framework (2018), which standardized practices for infection control, dlinical safety, and error reporting. Accreditation systems such as NABH and programs under the National Health Mission have further improved healthcare quality. Digitally, the creation of more than 67 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) and over 42 crore linked health records has made it easier to access secure and accurate medical data— paving the way for continuity of care and transparency.
