The rise of Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM in Bihar’s Seemanchal where it managed to retain the five seats that it had won in the 2020 elections and also its ability to damage the Mahagathbandhan in several seats has led to the opposition alleging that Bihar has finally embraced the politics of polarisation in the backdrop of AIMIM's performance in Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region and also its ability to gain a sizeable number of votes in several other seats across Bihar too.

Opposition flags polarisation in Bihar after AIMIM performance

Asaduddin Owaisi.

While Owaisi’s party had won five seats ~ Amour, Bahadurganj, Baisi, Jokihat and Kochadhaman in the previous elections, it has not only managed to retain these seats this time but has also registered a marginal rise in its vote share.

In the 2020 assembly elections, AIMIM had registered 1.3 per cent of the total vote share while this time it has managed to register 1.85 per cent vote share.

The AIMIM chief Owaisi has said multiple times that he had written letters to the RJD leadership requesting for an alliance with the party but the latter refused to ally. The face of the RJD Tejashwi Yadav had later commented on the decision saying that there was “no space for extremism.”

Having won just one seat less than the Congress (which won six seats), the AIMIM has now started taking a dig at the Congress party on social media too.
