The Daily Guardian
|August 25, 2025
Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the most vibrant and widely celebrated festivals in India, marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the beloved elephant-headed deity of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune.
Celebrated with immense devotion and enthusiasm, this festival not only holds deep spiritual significance but also showcases the rich cultural heritage of the country. Among the many places where Ganesh Chaturthi is observed with grandeur, the Moti Dungri Temple in Jaipur, Rajasthan, stands out for its majestic celebrations and immense faith of devotees.
The Story Behind Ganesh Chaturthi According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. There are several legends surrounding his birth, the most popular being that Parvati created Ganesha from the sandalwood paste she used for bathing. She breathed life into the figure and instructed him to guard the door while she bathed. When Lord Shiva returned and was denied entry by the young boy, an enraged Shiva severed Ganesha's head. Parvati, devastated by the act, demanded her son be brought back to life.
