Jaishankar 'Perplexed' by US Logic on Oil Tariffs

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Thursday, where the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties, discussed preparations for the annual summit later this year, and addressed pressing global and regional issues.

Welcoming Jaishankar for the talks, Lavrov emphasized the growing role of multilateral groupings in shaping a multipolar world order, citing organizations such as the SCO, BRICS and the G20. "I hope for fruitful talks today," Lavrov said, underscoring the significance of Russia's strategic partnership with India.

Jaishankar noted that discussions had covered political relations and wide-ranging aspects of bilateral cooperation. "We discussed a lot of issues in our cooperation and found many solutions as well. I want to take these discussions forward so that we have the maximum outcomes when we have the annual summit," he said. He also placed the talks in the broader global context of shifting geopolitics and evolving economic landscapes, stressing the goal of maximizing complementarities.
