Indian women are redefining global travel — One sustainable journey at a time
The Daily Guardian
|June 21, 2025
The new generation of Indian travellers seems to have evolved with autonomy and inquisitiveness; the new kind of traveller considers purpose just as much as a passport stamp.
Indian women constitute the very spirit of this movement, quietly but powerfully revamping how we travel.
They're not just ticking off tourist hotspots or filling suitcases with souvenirs; they're choosing eco-conscious stays, supporting local economies, and seeking experiences that leave a positive footprint. Simply put, they are recasting global travel in light of ethics and sustainability.
A CONSCIOUS SHIFT IN WOMEN TRAVELLERS' MINDSET Over the last decade, international travel from India has seen exponential growth. And post-COVID, it's no longer just about the "best deals" or "Instagrammable" moments. Increasingly, Indian women travellers are asking: Where is my money going? Is this experience helping the local community? How is this impacting the environment?
This mindset shift is especially visible among solo travellers, young professionals, and millennial mothers who are blending family vacations with values-led choices. From staying in women-run homestays in Bali to volunteering at reforestation camps in Costa Rica, the Indian women travellers today are driven by purpose, not just pleasure.
