House panel flags toll issues, seeks decongestion of NHs leading to Delhi

The Standing Committee of Parliament on Road Transport Tourism and Culture on Monday met here and highlighted several issues including toll collection on incomplete highways, ill-maintained highways and asked the officials to share the plan to decongest the highways connecting the national capital from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

According to sources, during the meeting today, the Chairman of the NHAI, the Secretary of the Road and Transport Ministry, and several top police officers from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh participated in the meeting.

The source said that the members of the committee were briefed by the Secretary of the Road and Transport Ministry.

The source said that during the meeting, some Opposition members raised the issue of incomplete highways where the NHAI has been collecting tolls.

They pointed out that collected tolls from users on incomplete highways is injustice, the source said.
