Donald Trump takes credit for halting India- Pakistan conflict again

Fresh controversy erupted on Monday after US President Donald Trump once again claimed that his threat of trade tariffs helped avert a “nuclear war” between India and Pakistan during the May 2025 escalation, prompting sharp political reactions in New Delhi and reports that India may no longer host the Quad summit.

In an interview with CBS News's 60 Minutes, Trump asserted that he warned both countries they would lose access to US markets if they failed to deescalate after India’s Operation Sindoor—a series of precision strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
"They were going to have a nuclear war. And I told both of them, 'If you guys don’t work out a deal fast, you're not going to do any business with the United States.' They do a lot of business with us, and they stopped the war,” Trump said, claiming his economic pressure “worked with India and Pakistan.”
