CISF strength to be raised to 2.2 lakh with 14,000 annual recruits

In a move to bolster the nation's industrial and internal security architecture, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved a significant increase in the sanctioned strength of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) from the existing 1.62 lakh personnel to 2.2 lakh.
The move is aimed at supporting India's rapidly growing economy and expanding infrastructure footprint.
According to senior government officials, the enhanced strength will ensure greater deployment of CISF units across key strategic sectors such as the civil aviation and port sectors, nuclear and thermal power installations, hydropower projects, and jails in Jammu and Kashmir.
