Brahmins reconsider BJP as Jan Suraj Party gains traction in Bihar elections

The survey indicates that this shift could significantly impact the party’s prospects in the upcoming polls.

The BJP’s 2023 caste survey revealed that upper castes constitute 15.22 per cent of Bihar's population, with Brahmins accounting for 3.66 per cent, followed by Rajputs at 3.45 per cent and Bhumihars at 2.86 per cent. However, the upper-caste community feels neglected in terms of political representation and ticket distribution, despite their consistent electoral support, local media reports suggest.
