CM announces slews of farmer welfare steps, including waiving Rs 133.55 crore water bill for farmers

Sounding the poll bugle at Kurukshetra, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini declared that the state will become the first in India to procure all crops on minimum support price (MSP). The rally, which marked the beginning of the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming assembly elections, saw the Chief Minister unveil a series of significant measures aimed at the welfare of the farming community.
The Chief Minister announced the waiver of Rs. 133.55 crore of Abiyana. The water bill for canal water is called “Aabiyana.” The farmer who takes canal water for irrigation has to pay a water bill to the irrigation department. These bills amounted to approximately Rs 133.55 crore in arrears. The move will also provide around Rs 54 crore annual benefit to farmers.
