As Pure As The River Ganga - 'Vande Ganga Jan Abhiyan's Call To Save Water

India's rivers are not just lifelines but also hold immense religious and spiritual value. The Ganga, considered the holiest, is worshipped as a goddess and believed to cleanse sins. River Ganga is counted among the most sacred rivers of India. It is also called Maa Ganga. It has been the center of India's soul, culture and faith. Ganga is not only a river, but also a symbol of faith of crores of people, a life-giving stream and the mother of Indian civilization. In Hinduism, it has the status of a goddess and is worshipped.

This river makes the plains of North India fertile and plays a very important role in India's agricultural system. Taking this Ganga as the base, a unique campaign 'Vande Ganga' water conservation public campaign has been started in Rajasthan as well.

Inspired by Mother Ganga, this special campaign launched by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma focuses on conserving rivers, stepwells, canals, and reservoirs. While it promotes water conservation, people see it as a sacred duty, wholeheartedly participating and treating it as a religious service for the betterment of future generations. Meanwhile, The Yamuna, linked to Lord Krishna, is sacred in Hinduism. Saraswati, though invisible today, is revered in Vedic texts. The Godavari and Narmada are central to many rituals and pilgrimages. Rivers like Brahmaputra and Kaveri also hold local spiritual importance. Bathing in these rivers is believed to purify the soul, and numerous festivals and ceremonies are held on their banks, reflecting their deep cultural and divine significance.
