Allahabad High Court directs registration of PIL for creation of 9,149 trial courts, says matter interests 'public at large'

The Allahabad High Court in the case Krishna Chandra Singh @ Munna Singh v. State Of U.P. Thru. Prin. Secy. Revenue Lko. And Others observed and has directed the Registry to register a Public Interest Litigation which relates to the creation of courts in the trial judiciary, and place it before the Chief Justice for appropriate directions.

The bench headed by Justice Rajeev Singh in the case held that, 'This Court is of the view that the issue related to the creation of 9149 courts is related to interest of public at large and, therefore, the Registry is directed to register the PIL as a separate case and place it before Hon'ble the Chief Justice for appropriate direction.'
The court initiated the proceedings under section 145 of Code of Criminal Procedure, CrPC, with the order passed being assailed in Criminal Revision.
The Criminal Revision was pending for 14 years, the High Court directed filing of personal affidavits by the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary, Law or Legal Remembrance.
