Penzance strengthen lead in the Premier with defeat of lowly Truro
The Cornishman
|June 26, 2025
HOT weather that saw temperatures in the midto high-20s on Friday was followed by morning showers and cooler conditions on Saturday.

However, a full league programme got underway on time. Penzance strengthened their Premier Division lead to 15 points as they won at bottom club Truro, repeating their Bradleys Vinter Cup semi-final success from earlier in the week.
Both second and third teams, Redruth and St Austell, went down to surprise defeats and have been overtaken by Wadebridge.
Penzance won at Truro by 44 runs but were given a scare by the home club. The champions were reduced to 64-4 before skipper Brad Wadlan made 69 and Grant Stone 44 in a fifth wicket stand of 112.
Requiring 213, Truro had hopes at 80-1 but they slipped away to be all out for 168 in the 47th over. Opener Harry Phillips made 43 and spinner Charlie Hearn took 3-30.
Wadebridge are up to second after repeating their recent Hawkey Cup semi-final win at Callington. Opener Max Tryfonos (69) got Callington to 106 before the second wicket fell.
