Man found dead in woods miles from his home

It was his coping mechanism. Mark said that drinking helped to shut everything off

A MAN who took to drinking heavily to cope with his personal problems and declining mental health because it helped him “shut everything off” was found dead in woods miles away from home, an inquest has heard.

A holidaymaker taking a walk with his children in Steeple Woods at Carbis Bay discovered the body of Mark Rogers, 48, from Looe.

Tourist Lee Hollingworth told an inquest in Truro on Monday, May 19, that he took his children back to the nearby Polmanter Farm Touring Park, where they were staying, so they did not see Mr Rogers and then called the emergency services.

Police and paramedics arrived and Mr Rogers was declared dead at the scene, at about 6.30pm on August 7 last year. His car was found parked nearby.
