Fundraiser launched after football pitch damaged by traveller group

A YOUTH football club has seen its pitch ruined by a group of travellers.
The playing field at Ludgvan Community Centre near Penzance, which is used by the Ludgvan Lions Junior Football Club, will have to be relaid after a group of travellers in 18 vans and caravans broke through a fence and gate and moved in on Good Friday, April 18.
The club said the travellers had been very aggressive towards anyone who confronted them.
Both Cornwall Council and the police were contacted and the group was eventually evicted.
On the afternoon of April 19 the group left the site but only moved 12 miles away, to the field at Sennen Primary School.
