TYNE WEAR: NEWCASTLE AND SUNDERLAND FANS WILL FINALLY MEET AGAIN

For sheer passion, the Tyne Wear derby between Sunderland and Newcastle United is hard to beat. There are not many more fanatical supporters in England than those backing the Mackems and the Magpies.

The only issue with the derby over the last decade or so is that, well, there haven't been any. When Newcastle won promotion to the top flight by winning the Championship in the 2016/17 season, Sunderland finished bottom of the Premier League and were relegated.

Since then, Newcastle have made steady progress in the Premier League, helped particularly in the last few seasons by an influx of money from Saudi Arabia.
