FAMILY: CULTURAL TRADITIONS AND EMOTIONAL REALITIES STILL RESONATE >>> This proudly Cape Town series have found a lasting place.

On Sunday, one of South Africa's most beloved - and most groundbreaking - soapies celebrates 10 years of top-quality entertainment on our screens. Who could have imagined, back then, that the characters from this proudly Cape Town series would find such a deep and lasting place in viewers' hearts?
From the very beginning, Suidooster distinguished itself through its honesty and fearlessness in tackling sensitive issues - often being the first to portray certain milestones on South African television.
It was, for instance, the first local soap to showcase a Muslim wedding, while its compassionate depiction of cultural traditions and emotional realities continues to resonate strongly with audiences.
Set in the fictional Cape suburb of Ruiterbosch, Suidooster has become much more than a TV show.
"You'll have to look far to find someone who doesn't know Suidooster," says the show's publicity manager, Wilmer Müller.
