Novelista can prove a fitting winner of the EBF 'Double Trigger' Novice Stakes at Redcar today.
The race's namesake was a staying superstar for trainer Mark Johnston in the 1990s and it is his son Charlie who saddles Novelista in this 1800m affair.
Sent to Goodwood for his racecourse bow, this 65,000 euro purchase was not disgraced in finishing third behind a couple of runners with previous experience on deep ground.
He again encountered testing conditions on his second start, when he proved no match for the well-regarded Sir Dinadan, with both outings coming over 2000m.
Edged back slightly in trip, Novelista has shown enough to suggest he can make his presence felt.
