ACTIVITY: BOLD NEW RESTAURANT WING ON TRACK AT FOURWAYS

- Hilton Tarrant

Mall gets new dining

AMBITIOUS. A year of furious activity and focus by the new managers has transformed the mall into a dramatically more vibrant space. Picture: Anathi Madubela/Moneyweb

An ambitious redevelopment of a wing of Fourways Mall, accessible off Cedar Road, which will see the addition of an offering centred on speciality, as well as a number of new restaurants, is on track to open early next year.

Called The View, with sweeping vistas westwards, the wing will remain anchored by Food Lover's Market, which has continued trading throughout the construction period. Seattle Coffee Company will also remain part of the space.

Pet World also traded throughout and the managers of the mall, Flanagan & Gerard and the Moolman Group, see the space vacated by the closure of West Pack Lifestyle (as it transitioned to a franchise model) on the ground floor taken up by specialist liquor, butchery and bakery/organic stores.

It needs something of a differentiated offering to pull shoppers to this node, given the popular Food Lover's, as well as the large Woolworths Food at Cedar Square, practically diagonally opposite the mall.

More al fresco dining options

On the two levels above, the plan sees as many as five restaurants being added, with Mozambik confirmed and at least one other understood to be secured.
