STYLISH: CHERY MARQUE AIMED AT YOUNGER BUYERS

Chery has confirmed that its Lepas brand will be introduced to the South African market next year. The Citizen Motoring attended the world reveal of the first model to roll off the assembly line, the Lepas L8 SUV, in Wuhu, China in April.
Lepas, a combination of the words "leopard" and "passion", is said to offer a "fresh perspective on what a premium SUV can be: elegant, expressive and tailored to a contemporary lifestyle".
It is aimed at "younger, style-conscious drivers seeking more than just mobility; the brand combines design-led thinking with advanced technology in a range of vehicles that reflect individuality, modern luxury and purpose".
Lepas will only be offered in Chery's international markets and not in China. Chery believes there is a gap in these markets for a more upmarket and trendier styled SUV.
According to the manufacturer, the Chery Tiggo Pro family SUVs cater for a moderate and traditional buyer and that the Lepas is aimed at younger buyers with fashion in mind.
Chery plans to have around 30 dealerships up and running before its market launch.
