KZN Season Kicks Off in Style

Exciting: Guineas Stands Out as the Most Thrilling Event on the Nine-Race Card

The Champions Season officially kicks off at Hollywoodbets Greyville tomorrow and it's a season that always promises to be one of the best periods throughout the year, filled with some high-quality racing.

That is because it is the time of the year when horses from all the provinces come together to compete and that tells us who has the best horses in the country.

Overall, it's a truly wonderful part of the year and I have always been lucky enough to pull off a few of the big races. Once again, I have a few horses I believe will be very competitive through the season, so I'm really excited for the months ahead.

Tomorrow sees the running of the Grade 2 World Sports Betting Guineas, the Grade 2 World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas, both races over 1600m, as well as the Grade 2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes over 1400m.

These races are generally the serve as the start of lead up to several Grade 1 races coming up over the next couple of months, and then on to the Hollywoodbets Durban July, so it's important to watch these races closely and start making a shortlist of horses for those bigger races.

I have six carded rides on the nine-race card and I'll be hoping to continue the decent run of form I've been in. I am happy with the way things are going and long may it continue.

For a second week in a row, our column's best bet, Green Diamond, and our value bet, Olivia's Way, both won, and once again I really hope that assisted our followers to a successful day at the races.

There is no racing on the Highveld this weekend so we will be focusing on tomorrow's race meeting and Greyville.

Race 1 is the Dash over 400m and the outcome of this race will depend on how the horses jump out of the pens. It is absolutely essential for a horse to get a good break.

I ride Trafalgar Square who shows good pace, so I'll be hoping he can run into the money.
