It used to be underpants with a roar, but a few years ago Bear whimpered away and simply disappeared from the shelves. It was a sad moment for a lot of men, because not only was the brand super comfortable, but they were also the kind of undies that your girlfriend could don, too. That is, when she wasn't already wearing your T-shirt.

But Bear's departure didn't mark the end of the road for women borrowing from the men's underwear drawer. In fact, it's become a fashion statement. Celebrities like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Zendaya have been spotted in men's boxer shorts as outerwear and pairing them with blazers, oversized shirts or with vests and strappy tops. The trend hasn't slowed down and seems to shape up as part of a movement that champions comfort, androgyny and unapologetic sexiness that says the wearer may not be trying to fit in at all.
