High water levels irk business around Vaal Dam

Businesses around the Vaal Dam are frustrated because they are still flooded after water management measures they claim are keeping the level of the dam at more than 100%.

Anchor Creek resort is one of the businesses that suffered a huge blow in the aftermath of April's high dam levels.

According to the department of water and sanitation, the dam is sitting at 107.3% capacity, a slight increase from last week's 106.3%.

Carl Geldenhuys, owner of Anchor Creek Resort, is frustrated that the dam capacity is being kept at over 100%. His business was among those heavily flooded after heavy rain in April.

He said in the 25 years he had owned the business, this year had been the worst it has been affected and he blamed poor management of the dam.
