SUCCESS: EASTERN CAPE-BASED TRAINER CAN REFLECT ON THE BEST SEASON OF HIS CAREER

- Jack Milner

Greeff ready to reset the clock

Trainer Alan Greeff comes off the most successful season of his career which saw him land second spot on the national trainers' log.

Considering that event is calculated on stake money, it is a remarkable feat for a trainer based in the Eastern Cape who does have big money value races at home.

His statistics are worth a glance. He had 170 winners for the season, the identical number as champion trainer Justin Snaith, but while the latter saddled 1,171 runners for a winning percentage of 14.52 and a win/place percentage of 49.44, Greeff sent out 961 runners for a win percentage of 17.69 and win/place of 54.01%.

The difference came in the stakes as Snaith's runners produced R32,412,038 while Greeff's runners returned half that value at R16,202,596.
