FORD RANGER TREMOR: SIZE MATTERS WHEN YOU'RE SPOTTING SOME WILD LIFE IN THE BUSH

I get it, I thought as I watched the latest TV spot for the Ford Ranger, where various Rangers owners congregate in the middle of nowhere and, somehow, end up getting cups of coffee from an oke with a machine in the back of his Ranger.

Cappuccino goes perfectly with Ford's go-anywhere, do-anything Ranger Tremor, the latest in a long line of Ranger special editions. We got ours, freshly made, from the reception office at Crocodile Bridge camp as we went into the Kruger National Park for a day.

The brews were still piping hot when we stopped at Hippo Pools, on the river and only a few kilometres from the entrance, to sip and take in the scenery. Others who had been there before us didn't hang around – their loss because, through the binos we could make out six lions lazily absorbing the early morning on the bank.

So, you'll forgive me if I associate coffee and a Ford with game-sighting good luck.
