Violent brute strangled partner until she passed out

A THUG who strangled his partner until she passed out then left an indentation in a wall with her head has been locked up.

Grant Hunter and the woman had been in a relationship since 2023 and were working in technical theatre as crew hands, a court heard.

Around two months into the relationship, Hunter “became nastier and more controlling”, prosecutor Helen Towers said. In December 2023, they argued and during the course of that, Hunter put his hands around her throat and strangled her to the point she lost consciousness.

Miss Towers told Newcastle Crown Court: “She didn’t know how long she had been unconscious. She had soreness, tunnel vision and described hearing cricket noises.”
