TRIBUTES have been paid to a much loved Newcastle mother and grandmother who has died at the age of 99.

Margaret Mciver, who preferred to go by as 'Peggy, lived in the Daisy Hill estate in Walker and headed a family of five generations.

Known locally as the 'Queen of the Hill, Peggy was often regarded as "everybody's mother" for her community spirit, and had four children, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
