Thief made five visits to steal from neighbour

A WOMAN who was burgling her neighbour's home when police turned up duped them into believing it was her friend’s house and was left to continue to plunder valuables.

Kaylee McIntyre was going back and forward to the woman's flat in Gateshead when officers attended checking on an earlier incident.

After lying to them about what she was up to, brazen McIntyre continued when they left, entering the other woman's home on five occasions and taking items worth more than £1,000.

Newcastle Crown Court heard it was in the early hours of April 26, 2023, that the victim had gone to buy alcohol from a local fuel station. Knowing she wouldn't be long, she didn’t lock her flat on Wetheral Gardens, Low Fell.

A couple of hours earlier, police had been to McIntyre’s home across the road following a domestic incident. They had taken her away from the scene and dropped her off at a family member's home in Lobley Hill.
