NORTH SHIELDS BUTCHER TO RETIRE AFTER WORKING HARD TO SERVE REGION FOR 46 YEARS
A BUTCHER based in North Shields is retiring after working hard to serve the region for 46 years.
Steve Phillips, 66, says he has 'enjoyed every minute' but he is 'looking forward' to seeing what retirement has to offer.
After he got married at 20 years old, Steve began training as a butcher under Albert Wilkinson in Howdon, learning everything there is to know about the profession.
Whether it’s cooking, or making classics like saveloys and black pudding, Steve had to learn all of the essential butchering skills from scratch.
