A KILLER driver has been jailed following a head-on collision which claimed the life of a beloved dad who never got to meet his grandson.

Sahil Nagpal, from Wardley, Gateshead, was driving his Hyundai i40 car along the A171 between Whitby and Teesside when he collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The 30-year-old was jailed for ten years at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday after being found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving, and three offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, after a four-day trial earlier this year.

Nagpal was travelling on a rural stretch of the road, near Scaling Dam Reservoir, on the evening of October 8, 2023, when he made a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre that resulted in his car colliding head-on with a vehicle being driven by Paul Brand, from Loftus, North Yorkshire, who was on his way to work.
