Stan's derby clash set to be a 'proper cup tie' - manager

HEATON Stannington manager Dean Nicholson has warned his players they are facing “a proper cup tie” when they make the short trip to Newcastle Blue Star tomorrow.

Two of Tyneside's other black and whites were paired together in Monday's FA Cup first qualifying round draw in one of the most eye-catching ties across the country and a big crowd is anticipated at Blue Star's KD Stadium.
Blue Star's route to the first qualifying round has been a challenging one as goals from Dan Wilson and Dan Lanning saw off Northern League rivals North Shields in the extra preliminary round before earning an impressive 3-2 win at Northern Premier League club Newton Aycliffe in the last round.
The Stan's journey in this season's competition has led them to seeing off two Northern League clubs with a 1-0 win at Whitley Bay followed up by a comfortable 3-0 home victory against Marske United to take the club into the first qualifying round for only the third time since 2015.
