Redevelopment plans made for eyesore in city

PERCY HOUSE BUILDING AND THE OLD LABOUR CLUB COULD BE REPLACED WITH NEW BLOCK
ONE of Newcastle city centre’s most prominent eyesore buildings could be redeveloped in a scheme that would also bring benefit to the city’s football faithful.
Developers Hanro Group have submitted plans to redevelop the Percy House building on the corner of Percy Street and Gallowgate, along with the city’s former Labour club on Leazes Park Road.
The £75m mixed-use development would predominantly be student accommodation in an area that has seen a number of other student flats developments in recent years.
