Racist graffiti cleaned off walls

RACIST graffiti has been washed off walls on a Tyneside estate where residents have been proudly displaying England flags.

North Tyneside council removing offensive graffiti on Waterville Road in North Shields

Scores of St George's Crosses could be seen flying on North Shields’ Meadow Well estate.

An England flag-themed graffiti had also been daubed on walls and bollards in the area.

North Tyneside Council said last week that this graffiti would not be removed immediately. However, several walls on the estate were targeted by vandals who painted offensive racist messages on them.

And on Monday morning council staff could be seen removing the hateful words, which had been reported to the authority around an hour earlier.
