Magpies floundering in a harsh summer of real discontent

MY, we know all about climate change these days but Geordies have certainly experienced the extremes of late.

Come the approach of summer in May we bathed in wall to wall sunshine. Newcastle had completed a wondrous double, winning the Carabao Cup on an unforgettable Wembley afternoon when champions Liverpool were downed and paired that with Champions League qualification once again.

However, it has unbelievably turned into a summer of discontent as we have been plunged into a world as dark as the bottom of a mineshaft at midnight. Who turned the lights out? Does anyone know where the switch is?

United look to have forgotten how to close out a transfer deal. Sure, they have signed Anthony Elanga but that came when there was no competition to make life uncomfortable. The Mags had a free run at negotiations.

Of course the scenario from hell has developed with Alexander Isak letting it be known he wants out during all the failed bids to import help. A double whammy.

Here we are slap bang in the middle of a centre-forward crisis and the word is we are about to sign a goalkeeper on loan!

Aaron Ramsdale, once of Arsenal and England, once too of Bournemouth and Eddie Howe, is the man in question and fair enough as long as Yoane Wissa and another No9 also arrive to cover the huge Isak concern.
