MUM AND SISTER OF SAMANTHA MADGIN RECEIVE MBES 18 YEARS AFTER HER MURDER

- By SAM VOLPE Health reporter

THE campaigning mum and sister of Samantha Madgin have picked up MBEs from the king at Windsor Castle.

Alison Madgin and Carly Barrett have spent well over a decade raising awareness about the dangers of knife crime, following the devastating murder of the Wallsend mum back in 2007.

Alison and Carly were pictured at the investiture at Windsor Castle, at an event which also saw the likes of TV hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly formally receive honours from the king.

Their MBEs were announced in June 2024, in the king's Birthday Honours list.
